A Bridal shower is a gift giving party held for the bride to be, for her wedding. Men are typically not allowed at the event but now it’s not uncommon to see them there too. As showers are explicitly a gift giving event, everyone is expected to turn up with a gift, small or big it doesn’t really matter. The host too is expected to hand out favours as a gesture of thank you. There is a lot that goes in preparation for the Bridal Shower, such as invites, themes and food. But to make it successful there are a few points we have listed which should be taken care of:
Take the initiative of planning it but don’t take the entire burden on yourself. Discuss it with other members and ask them what responsibility they would like to take. That way not only are you involving everybody in the organisation process, but you are also not imposing duties forcefully upon them.
Even if you have thought of a theme, do not impose it on the bride. Keep in mind their customs and rituals and discuss with other family members so that it does not become embarrassing for any present member.
Pick a date early and inform the guests so that they can book dates and be available for the party beforehand. Ask the bride for her guest list so that you do not miss out on anybody. Make sure that the guests that are invited to the bridal shower are also attending the wedding.
Inform the guests beforehand whether there will be a fully fledged meal or a just some finger foods and snacks .
Keep in mind that this is a party and do not be too fixed on the rules. Just let everything go with the flow. Play games, have some good music and ensure that the bride to be is the centre of attraction and is being paid attention. It is her day; make it a memorable one, not only for her but the guests too.
