A few years back now and we were very lucky to attend a photography training course in Darwen, Lancashire. On the course we got the chance to take some Church Photos at Sacred Heart and Saint Edwards in Darwen, Lancashire. We took along with us a range of cameras but on this particular shoot, I was using my Canon 40D and had a 50mm Canon Prime Lens installed on to it.
These prime lenses are amazing and the depth of field is so small the blurred look of non subject matter is simply stunning.
Posted a few shots here for reference.
The below shot has five candles all in a row approximately 18 inches from one side to the other. I focused on the very last one in this shot and as you can see, the candles in the foreground are out of focus. I love this effect and and used it many times since first buying my Canon Lens.
Again in the shot below I have focused right in on to the Pascal candle and the Church backdrop is completely blurred. Another stunning result.
In the church photos below, I have focused on the Organs, number 1 key and as you can see, everything else becomes completely blurred the further away from the focus centre you get.
Any one of these church photos would make stunning canvas prints and we have donated quite a few of them to our local parish here in Darwen. Since doing these photos and placing images on our blog we have done quite a few Spiritual Words on Canvas Prints.
Some of these have just been simple quotes from the Bible and others have been more spiritual in nature, like the ones we see every day on Facebook.
One of the best spiritual quotes we have done is by far the Mother Teresa Poem. The poem below is reportedly written on to the walls of Mother Teresa’s home for children in Calcutta, India and are widely attributed to her.
The poem seems to be about the Final Analysis and a perspective on life. The main point being that You see,
“In the final analysis it is between you and God.
It was never just between you and them anyway”.

We can create any design for you in any colourway. We can overlay images and text maybe of someone that was special to you that has passed away. Below are two images we made into a collage for somebody that was to be displayed on the top of a coffin in church. The old photos were in very poor condition and we were asked to make them look new again. After a few hours work and a bit of patience, the result is remarkable.
There are many ways in which a canvas print can be used to display photos and sometimes it is not always on the wall.
A little “Off the wall” creative thinking is required.
